EXAMINATIONS AND CONTINUOUS ASSESSMENT TESTS

The minimum number of Continuous Assessments Tests to be administered in any given term is three. However, in subjects such as Maths, English and Kiswahili, the teacher can administer as many as they can possibly give. These Tests are given at no notice to the students and are taken during the respective teacher’s scheduled lesson. Other assignments given such as project work or practicals are also duly marked and recorded under this category.

End of term examinations are formally timetabled and administered during the last weeks of the term.

NB: Any work, which is given, must be marked, and its value should contribute to the end of term grade.

The concept of understanding is more highly espoused as compared to hurrying to complete the syllabus. Indeed in some subjects like Physics and Biology, the teachers slow down deliberately to ensure some topics were left so as to be completed in term three; this is meant to enable the students to peak at the right time for the KCSE.

Term One

Only Continuous Assessment Tests are given and used to determine the student’s term grade.
